Abstract
This collection consists of two oversize scrapbooks, 1874-1943 and 1921-1937, primarily documenting the political career of Charles W. Eldridge, alderman, Massachusetts state legislator, and mayor of Somerville, Mass.
Biographical Sketch
Charles Wadleigh Eldridge (b. 1877) served as alderman (1907-1909), Massachusetts state representative (1911-1913), Massachusetts state senator (1914-1917), and mayor of Somerville, Mass. (1918-1922), and as a delegate to the 1920 Republican National Convention. He married Edith L. Brown, and the couple had six children: Raymon W. Eldridge, Arthur F. Eldridge (1904-1926), Warren Prescott Eldridge, Louise Eldridge, Charlotte Eldridge, and Albert Coolidge Eldridge (b. 1920).
Collection Description
This collection consists of two oversize scrapbooks, 1874-1943 and 1921-1937, primarily documenting the political career of Charles W. Eldridge of Somerville, Mass. The scrapbooks contain printed campaign matter and memorabilia, including buttons and ribbons; correspondence; newspaper clippings; and photographs. Correspondents include Leverett Saltonstall, Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., and Calvin Coolidge. The volumes also include a small amount of family material, including photographs.
